Passport and Visa Requirements:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Updated 08-25-09

Passport Information:

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative has new documentary requirements for passports that will be effective June 1, 2009 for US and Canadian citizens at US land and sea borders. There has been a requirement that air passengers have a passport since January 2007.  US citizen cruise ship passengers on round trip voyages from the same US homeport will not be expected to have a passport after the effective date of the WHTI (June 1, 2009).  All that is required is adequate proof of identity and citizenship similar to that required today for entry into the United States land borders and seaports.  All other passengers will be expected to have a passport.  In case you want to check it out, the following website is a comprehensive and easy to use site that can be used as a reference for documentary requirements.  For details, go to www.getyouhome.gov  then click on US Passport, then Special Audiences, then Cruise Ship Passengers.
